Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
Welcome - the door is always open.
The journey begins for some and continues for others, so the conclusion is, we are all on a journey. RCIA, the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is about to begin here at St Gregory’s for some eight people, maybe more. This year we would love to have you involved, yes we are talking to you sitting here reading this now.
The format of the journey will be based on the bible, using the readings from Sunday Masses.
Each week one of the team members or a guest speaker will break open the word for us so we may be inspired to live out God’s word in whatever we do during the week.
Your role in this is an important one for two reasons:
The first is, these people who begin the RCIA journey will hopefully be sitting alongside us at Mass each week, so we need to welcome them and be with them. This gives them a sense that none of us know it all and we are all on the faith journey together, forever.
The second reason you are so important to the candidates, is that when they come to Mass they are not going to be sure why we do the things we do. So invite them to sit with you so you can explain what is happening. Even if you don’t know the answer, bring the question to the Wednesday group for an answer. RCIA program for 2017/2018 has commenced and meetings are on Wednesday evenings at 7pm in the parish meeting room, Lowe st Queanbeyan.
